Fund the first classes
We're pre-launch. Early support decides how soon survivors are in a room learning something useful.
Read this before you give
ShadowWing Alliance is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation. Our application for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) is still pending with the IRS, and no determination letter has been issued yet.
So we can't tell you a gift today is tax-deductible, and we're not going to imply it. If the determination comes through, exemption is normally backdated to when we incorporated, but that's the IRS's call and not ours. Treat any deduction as unconfirmed until we can show you the letter.
If deductibility matters to you, the honest advice is to wait. Tell us to let you know when the determination arrives and we will.
What support actually pays for
How we plan to allocate money over the first two years.
- 50%
Running classes
Instructor and clinician fees, venue costs, equipment, childcare during parent sessions, and rides for participants who otherwise can't get there.
- 25%
Keeping the doors open
Liability insurance, background checks, legal and compliance costs, accounting, and the basic administration a nonprofit needs to handle grant money responsibly.
- 25%
Outreach and evaluation
Building partnerships with DV agencies, developing the curriculum, measuring outcomes, and the fundraising it takes to become sustainable.
This is a plan, not a track record. We haven't delivered a class yet. As soon as there are real numbers, they'll replace these projections.
Support that isn't money
Some of these are worth more to us right now than a check would be.
Introduce us
To a trauma therapist who might advise, a DV agency director, or a foundation program officer. Warm introductions are the bottleneck on everything else.
Donate space
A room with a door that closes, off-peak, on a recurring slot. This is the single biggest line item you could take off our budget.
Professional services
Nonprofit legal counsel, accounting, grant writing, and insurance brokerage. Donated hours here turn directly into class time.
Book paid training
If you run a business, school, or clinic, our paid de-escalation and workplace safety training subsidizes the free classes.
Corporate sponsorship
Sponsor a group of classes, a site, or a year of insurance. We'll tell you exactly what it covered.
Tell us when giving opens
We'll email you once, when our 501(c)(3) determination arrives and giving goes live. This isn't a newsletter.
ShadowWing Alliance is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation. Our application for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) is pending with the IRS. Until a determination letter is issued we can't promise a gift will be tax-deductible, and we won't imply otherwise.
What we'll publish
- Our IRS determination letter, once it's issued, linked right on this page.
- Annual Form 990 filings, as soon as we're required to file one.
- Actual program spending against the plan above, instead of projections.
- How many people we served, and how many finished a full track.
